CAROLE & DAYNE

This Victorian terraced house situated in the North-West of London is the first house Carole and Dayne bought together. The house has been rented for years and was in real need of care and love. We discussed for a long time the necessity or not to extend the house at the rear of the property. As the house was under full renovation, it would have been the right time to extend, but the clients didn’t necessarily need more space. We decided to maintain the existing surface of the house and focus the design on bringing more light into the house. The other important focus was to recreate a flow in the house. The staircase was previously enclosed and leading to rooms with different floor levels. We have completely changed the stairs and rework on the first floor corridor. We have thought of the stairs as the spine of the project, connecting both floor and bring this family home feeling which was long missing in this house.
